Recently, I had the fortune of interviewing Malmö-based singer/songwriter and producer Kevin Forest. He’d just released his brand new RnB-infused EP ‘After Nexus’, and I’d fallen completely in love with the six-track offering. Now, I’m honoured to dive deeper into the music from the record.
‘Nexus’ kicks things off and sets the tone for what’s to come expertly. A chilled and laidback opener that runs for just one minute and thirty seconds, it’s a perfect appetizer and enticing prelude.
‘and beyond.’ then steps up to the plate, and the listener now gets fully immersed in Forest’s intimate, smooth, and soulful production. Pulling you deeper into his captivating sonic world, it’s just an absolute gem from start to finish.
‘cityofAngels’ brings forth a buoyant and bouncy beat before ‘get you on / to the sky’ contrasts with a gritty and hard-hitting soundscape, all tied together by Kevin’s vocals which evoke the iconic style of his hero, Michael Jackson.
‘I haven’t changed’ and ‘AFTER DARK’ complete ‘After Nexus’, and they’re two tunes that I’ll be leaving you to explore and experience for yourself. All I’ll say is that it’s a spellbinding EP that deserves your full and undivided attention!
