Kele Fleming certainly appreciates having her music remixed. Previously appearing on our blog with a rework of ‘Sea In Me’ by Cholly, the Canadian songstress now returns with an abstract, ethereal version of ‘Vanishing of Bees’ (here defined as “Buzzwave”). Mangled by the sapient hands of producer and visionary Lost Signal, the track transforms into a leftfield sonic panorama, noisy and experimental.
A song firmly drenched in activism and empowering lyricism, ‘Vanishing of Bees’ sees Fleming educate the listeners about the urgency of safeguarding the bee population, essential creatures for human life and the natural cycles. Lost Signals manages to translate such an important message in instrumental forms, including fragments of Kele’s vocals delivering catchy one-liners.
As Fleming shares in the track’s lyricism:
“Vanishing of bees
It’s a horrible sound
A silence so loud
How can this be?
Vanishing of bees
It’s not too late to make this right
Still got time to turn this round
It’s not too late”
Released on World Bees Day, 20th May 2024, ‘Vanishing of Bees’ is a worthy discovery and a learning experience. Recommended!
