Wrapped in nostalgia and laced with fuzzy guitars, ‘Dwelling’ is the hypnotic new single from Washington, D.C.-based multi-instrumentalist and mixing engineer Keegan Del Rio. Self-recorded and mixed by Keegan, the artist enlisted the help of mastering extraordinaire Mat Leffler-Schulman (Beach House, Future Islands, Dan Deacon) to give the track that classic dreamy and psychedelic feel.
As Keegan’s first release since 2021’s ‘Moonstone’, ‘Dwelling’ has been in the works for some time, but it’s a tune that has undoubtedly been worth the wait. Exploring the all too familiar theme of moving on, and the turmoil accompanying the process, it’s a song that expertly captures a heartbreaking journey through its atmospheric soundscape.
The thickly layered double drums add a powerful intensity and a lush texture that further enhances the track’s emotional weight, all culminating in a deeply moving and mesmerizing piece of music.
A tune that’s good enough to fit in with the heavyweights of the neo-psychedelic movement, ‘Dwelling’ is an absolute peach from start to finish. I can’t wait to hear more from this hugely talented musician!
