Delving into Katsy Pline’s artistry is an experience like no other. You see, the Californian creative champions a rather unique, certainly authentic outlook on her musical stylings. Somehow stuck between folk’s intimacy, country’s nostalgia and the poignancy of rock’n’roll, Pline’s music is also blessed by her deep, rounded vocals, almost exuding a certain crooning quality. That’s elegance – another word you could use to describe the project.
‘Pining’ is Katsy’s latest effort, a retro-flavoured, charming ballad blending 60s-style fingerstyle guitars with modern synth elements, all packed into a vivid and vibrant production. The listening experience is quite magical, like travelling in time while maintaining contemporary references. We can’t wait to hear more. Lucky for us, the project’s debut album – ‘Incandescent Fire’ is expected on September 22nd.
Speaking about ‘Pining’ and the album as a whole, Pline explains: “Incandescent Fire’ sets out looking for uncontrollable desire amidst the infinite blues of the present. It narrates this spirit through tales of lost love and existential confusion, the beautiful struggle to affirm life amidst catastrophe and unimaginable exploitation, even when all appears hopeless and lost.”
