Kat Kikta Returns with Soothing, Healing Piece ‘Cherry Trees’

For the uninitiated, Kat Kikta’s expansive, cathartic artistry might appear intricate and liminal, wrapped in mysterious tones and mystical energy. That’s because she’s speaking to a deeper, hidden consciousness, and it takes time for the listeners to connect with such heart-shaking energy. ‘Cherry Trees’ is the perfect example of it; Kikta’s latest effort, the piece holds particular significance, having been written in response to Russia’s aggression towards Ukraine.

Seeking to spread “powerful messages of compassion, hope and peace”, Kat counteracts the darkness and the suffering with angelic, ethereal art and prophetic, positive spoken words. It works: ‘Cherry Trees’ provides a soothing, blissful listening experience, a sound bath that completely overwhelms the receiving user, gifting nearly five minutes of undisturbed peace and healing tones. The Slovakian, London-based songstress’ signature field recordings and gentle plucks are ever-present, together with her evocative, luscious vocals.

It’s not easy to convey such an impactful piece using words as a literary medium. Simply, ‘Cherry Trees’ needs to be experienced first-hand, letting Kat Kikta’s elegance and majesty take over our inner thoughts. It boasts a surprisingly calming effect. Speaking about the record, Kikta explains: “I wish this song can uplift other people the same way it uplifted me…”. Stay tuned for an upcoming music video, filmed on location in Slovakia.
