Emerging from the rugged landscapes of Iceland, Kahnin is a singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who recently unleashed a tune that’s become a firm favourite of mine.
Titled ‘Hollystick’, the immaculately assembled track is rich and nuanced, taking listeners on a sonic journey of layered soundscapes and immersive arrangements. Accompanied by a sensational cast of fellow musicians including Clive Deamer (Radiohead), Dylan Wissing (Alicia Keys), and Leo Abrahams (Brian Eno), Kahnin delivers a lush and collaborative masterpiece worth savouring.
A thought-provoking anthem that focuses on a time traveller observing our society, the name ‘Hollystick’ was inspired by the holly oak tree, historically used for crafting magic wands. Symbolising the illusion and enchantment of Hollywood, Kahnin challenges the listener to question everything they see and read.
Mixed and mastered by the legendary Sefi Carmel, ‘Hollystick’ is a cinematic gem that reflects Kahnin’s relentless dedication to his craft. He’s an artist unwilling to compromise, and that is reflected in all of his offerings, not just ‘Hollystick’. Go on…Dive into his previous work and tell me I’m wrong…I dare you!
Paired with ‘Hollystick’ is an absolutely beautiful music video filmed in the vibrant streets of Tokyo, and we are honoured to share it with you below.
