The keen reader might recall reading about Justin Sconza a few months ago, when we celebrated him as “an enlightened creative, borrowing from a plethora of influences in order to build a highly personal and authentic style, so well reflected in his ever-growing streaming figures”. We stand by our words; the Chicago-based troubadour confirms his artistic stature with another stunning album, ‘Campfire’, out now.
In it, the listeners will be confronted by Sconza’s soft, poignant blend of indie-pop, alt-folk and nostalgic acoustic stylings. Everything plays a part in sculpting the project’s sonic livery, so unique and vibrant. Crowning it all, we find Justin’s relatable, introspective songwriting, constantly decoding the reality around him with quirky and witty lyricism.
Speaking about the inspiration behind ‘Campfire’, he explains: “I’ve had the name campfire in mind for a while. I just think it’s a cool word that conjures up images of a fire on the beach, maybe at the edge of the world, flashes of light and a kaleidoscope of different melodies weaving together.”
