A hazy, misty record, ‘BE STILL AND WAIT’ is rather mysterious and hypnotising, taking the listeners on a metaphorical journey through deep human consciousness and personal reckoning. Penned by British songstress Judy Granville, the track can be considered a slow-burn episode; developing over an icy four minutes period, ‘BE STILL AND WAIT’ keeps it minimal and almost dull – on an instrumental level – while Granville lays her evocative and luscious vocals on top of it.
Her delivery is magical; modulating around a whisper-like tone, Judy creates a very intimate atmosphere with the listeners, as if she were an old friend finally revealing all her secrets to you. Becoming busier over time, ‘BE STILL AND WAIT’ finishes in glorious fashion, adding a plethora of electronic elements and a groovy guitar.
Speaking about the inspiration behind the song, Granville explains: “It is a musical fable, taking us on a metaphorical walk in the mountains, while at the same time pondering on a time of confusion and uncertainty. Low-lying cloud descends and we are lost! But through the cloud appears a misty figure who offers some advice”.
