Judas Goat & the Bellwether Reflect on Modernity in Latest Single

There are a couple of layers we can peel off ‘There Is Always a Dawn’. First, there’s the purely musical one: built on legendary, fierce folk stylings, the song flourishes within elegant settings, slowly raising its intensity, to then finish into an anthemic, powerful chorus. Judas Goat & the Bellwether here showcase their charming musicianship, with Sara Vian’s evocative and resonating vocals creating an atmosphere that’s almost hypnotising.

Pete Vincent completes the lineup, offering a plethora of blissful textures and acoustic guitar goodness. Hailing from Frome, the British duo focuses on a theme that’s ever more relevant… and that’s where the other layer gets peeled off. ‘There Is Always a Dawn’ reflects on the current climate crisis and the role of fossil fuel – the one thing that made technological advancement possible.

As the pair explains: “Initially inspired by ‘the dark satanic mills’ in William Blake’s Jerusalem poem, this song is centred around the current fossil fuel issue which once drove the “great” industrial revolution, but has now gone too far and is greatly contributing to climate change by putting too much carbon dioxide in the air”.
