Jozem Shares Nuanced EP ‘SUMMERHAZE’

A welcome return for Rwanda-born, Toronto-based creative Jozem. ‘SUMMERHAZE’ sees him embark on a cathartic, vibrant journey across alternative and leftfield pop, all while drenching his nuanced songwriting in limitless poignancy and evocative energy. Introduced by previous single ‘Foolish Heart’, the record then reaches its title track, showcasing the alchemy between ground-breaking electronica, soundscapes and mangled vocal bits.

All part of Jozem’s stunning creative flair, such a formula gives him a kaleidoscopic image that’s almost holy, almost sacred. Listening to ‘SUMMERHAZE’ is like floating on water, carefree and finally at peace with one’s dark corners. ‘4AM’ and ‘Waiting, soft’ are both intimate offerings, while ‘Test’ seems to draw from slightly noisier club roots.

Speaking about the EP, Jozem explains: “Each track in this EP is a reflection of my own personal experiences and those of close friends and encapsulates the moody essence of a summer, where one’s inner turmoil contrasts with the outward joy of the season; about those times when you fake a smile to join in the fun, even when you’re feeling down.”
