Los Angeles-based singer/songwriter and one-man-band Joshua Martin recently unleashed the remix to his upbeat and infectious tune ‘Te Conoci Bailando’ (Sunshine Is Coming). Originally written after visiting Mexico City for the first time, Martin now brings in a host of electronic elements for the remix. That cheerful and buoyant atmosphere is still very much with us, but the track takes on a new dimension and feel with all of these added components. Bouncy synths, shiny drums, and the mesmerizing vocals of Joshua are all on full display, and you can’t help but tap your foot along to the song.
Influenced by 80s new wave, dark wave, pop, reggae, and Latin sounds, the musician cites bands like The Cure, No Doubt, and Aterciopelados as some of his favourites. It’s this wonderfully eclectic and wide-ranging set of influences that have allowed Martin to come up with a sound that makes him stand out from the crowd.
The remix of ‘Te Conoci Bailando’ has truly been just what I needed to hear today. Sure, I don’t speak Spanish, but the bright and anthemic tune has putten a smile on my face and a bounce in my step. I guarantee it’ll do the same for you!
