Making music takes time, but eventually, it will all be worth it. American singer-songwriter Joshua Ketchmark knows it well, having spent much of the last few years writing and recording songs. Focusing on a personal sound balanced between Country and Americana, the talented artist has also been rather productive, releasing several full-length records in the last three years. In 2021 we were served with ‘Huntington Hotel’, while this calendar year was the turn of Ketchmark’s latest effort, ‘BLOOD’. A 12-track journey into Joshua’s artistic universe, the record navigates between Folk rock, classic rock and Country rock, eventually declaring its own peculiar identity. It’s just Ketchmark’s music. More recently, ‘Tazewell County Line’ (the last track of the album) got some special attention, with a music video being released earlier this month. The song let us catch a glimpse of Ketchmark’s ballad aesthetic, being a slow-tempo poignant hymn to life and human relationship, wrapping the listener into nostalgic yet hopeful sonic goodness.
There’s a lot to appreciate in ‘Tazewell County Line’. Opened by tame drums, acoustic guitars and a gentle lead guitar, the tune soon gives space to Joshua’s vocals, allowing them to flourish in all their evocative, charming aura. The chorus is a big bittersweet moment, representing the moment it all comes together, in glorious fashion.
Overall, a strong effort from Ketchmark, showcasing once again he’s not one to be taken lightly. And frankly, his music sounds so good that would be foolish not to have him under your radar.
