Josh Martin Unveils New Cosmic-Folk Album ‘Notes from the American Rat Race’

As a music curator, I am deeply fascinated by the story of Josh Martin – a man who was raised in a yurt in rural Sonoma county by ex-hippie survivalist parents, yet still managed to make a name for himself in the music industry. Josh’s first foray into the musical world was in college with an experimental folk duo called Horsefly, and from there, his career blossomed into Psychedelic Glam with We Will Be Lions. Now, Josh composes and performs his own original tracks, inspired by the folk-rock of the 60s and 70s as well as the compositional pop of today.

‘Notes from the American Rat Race’ is Martin’s latest effort, a cosmic journey into his own artistry. 12 tracks of pure, unfiltered creative expression, showcasing the work of a clearly talented upcomer. In the record, the listener will find cinematic and instrumental pieces along with more traditional folk numbers, shining a light on Josh’s relatable storytelling. It is accessible music: no witty barriers will separate you from enjoying it, and its honest and uplifting outlook will positively comfort you.

Josh Martin is just such a character – an unusual upbringing, a unique blend of musical influences, and a life dedicated to the craft of songwriting have all combined to create a truly remarkable story. It is the kind of story that should be remembered and celebrated, and we are proud to be witnessing it.
