Josh Long’s ‘California Cowboy’ is an Alluring and Nostalgia-Laced Beauty

Josh Long is a San Francisco-based self-taught producer, guitarist, and singer/songwriter who came into our world at the beginning of this year. His simple yet infectious little gem ‘Tidal Wave‘ stole our hearts, and today we’re honoured to feature his brand new single ‘California Cowboy’! Blending the raw essence of gritty surf-rock along with alluring indie-pop elements and a psychedelic electric guitar, the tune traverses the realms of novelty and nostalgia. New and fresh yet somehow familiar at the same time, Josh has concocted an absolute beauty that has a little something in it for everyone to enjoy!

As for the meaning behind the song, Long says that, to him, “it’s about the feeling of being jaded from staying in one place too long and feeling like everything and everyone around you is unwilling to change time and time again”.

Inspired by the likes of The Eagles, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Beach Boys, Tom Petty, and Lenny Kravitz, Josh has found the ability to breathe new life into classic and timeless sounds. ‘California Cowboy’ is another wonderful addition to the artist’s steadily growing discography, and I have no doubt we’ll be hearing from Josh again in the very near future! Onwards and upwards!
