After last year’s strong debut, electronic pop hero Jordan Jones returns to the new music scene, sharing a brand new 4-track EP, ‘Sabotage’. The Canadian talent builds on his strengths, those being catchy and memorable melodies, impeccable vocals and a general sense of pop luxury – he certainly knows how to write a good song. ‘Sabotage’ is also the track chosen as lead single, a modern blend between synthy EDM and trap-flavoured beats. The result is rather staggering, Jordan Jones manages to craft an absolute banger, an A-class pop anthem with luscious, poignant vocals and relatable storytelling.
Jones is a vocalist and guitarist who has explored a wide range of musical styles in the past. His passion for Pop music stands out strongly in his current project, with melodic pop sounds paired with thoughtful and reflective lyrics. When it comes to influences, the Edmonton resident cites a wide range of artists from 6black, Justin Bieber, Tate Mcrea and blackbear, among others.
But it’s not just the music that has shaped Jones’ life. He’s also a passionate artist, having exhibited his work on a Canadian-wide tour. He’s lived in a van and has had to battle addiction and depression. Every song he creates is informed by his life experiences and the relationships he’s made, and it’s these stories that make his music so powerful and unique.
Speaking about the inspiration behind ‘Sabotage’, Jordan explains: “The real story behind the song is the battle with the self we have when triggered because of stories and walls we’ve built to block ourselves from getting hurt. Holding on to these walls and stories often have a byproduct of self SABOTAGE. That’s what this song is for me.”
