Jonathan Shapiro Champions Lo-Fi Hip-Hop in ‘My Dawgs’

‘My Dawgs’ total running time stands at just one minute and forty seconds. What Binghamton-based rapper Jonathan Shapiro manages to achieve in that time, however, is nothing short of brilliant. His brand new track is a chilled-out and laidback one, with a lo-fi beat and smooth, almost nonchalant vocals. A tune about always staying creative and never fitting in a box, ‘My Dawgs’ demonstrates Shapiro’s top-class lyrical ability. Not to mention his impeccable flow!

The musician draws on influence from the likes of Mac Miller, Kendrick Lamar, Milo, Tyler the Creator, and Juice Wrld to name just a few. I can’t help but think of the late great Mac Miller when I listen to ‘My Dawgs’. I believe it’s mostly Shapiro’s vocal delivery and the confidence and genuineness that he displays. Whatever it may be, I’m loving it!

‘My Dawgs’ is more than just a song; it’s a testament to the artist’s creativity and ability to stay true to himself. Shapiro encourages listeners to embrace their uniqueness and never conform to societal norms or expectations. In just one minute and forty seconds, he delivers a powerful message that will resonate with many.
