Jonathan Grow Shares Nuanced Classical EP ‘3’

We don’t often feature classical or soundtrack pieces, but when we do, we are absolutely proud of them! ‘Devenir’ is one such composition, a slow-burn, elegant stream of gentle piano and majestic strings that develops over four minutes, resulting in an intense, yet soft and playful track. Embarking on traditional European stylings, ‘Devenir’ comes into its own over march snares, orchestral hits and pompous, luscious arrangements.

Penned by American composer Jonathan Grow, ‘Devenir’ might just be the intro to classical music you were waiting for. Light and rather cinematic, the record is a perfect appetizer for the project’s wider EP, ‘3’, Grow’s three-song collection which aims to delve deeper into his artistry and compositional character. There’s more poignant and sentimental material to be discovered there…

Speaking about the inspiration behind ‘Devenir’, Grow explains: “Devenir (or, “becoming” in French), mirrors my own journey of becoming, from the timid beginnings of boyhood at the piano to the more confident, unstriving moments as a more mature composer”.
