Joho Returns with Impeccable Album ‘Black American Scumbag’

Jeremy Bregman

Joho is a Houston-based singer, rapper, and producer who released his debut album ‘Youth in Retrospect’ back in 2019. Today, we are proud to introduce you to ‘Black American Scumbag’, his brand new twenty-four-track album that spans a wide variety of genres and styles to create what is honestly an instant classic. Recorded from his home studio, and mixed and mastered by Groupy Dimes, the album tells a story of inner struggle, and whether one will turn into the villain of the story or find grace and faith and self-love.

The opener ‘Scumbag’ sets the tone for what’s to come expertly. A slow build-up eventually turns into a hard-hitting and forceful tune with Joho showing off his vocal and lyrical prowess. ‘Future Chrome’ follows and it’s another “classic” sounding hip-hop track that, in truth, could have come from the likes of Kanye West or Jay-Z. The highest of praise I know, but listen for yourself and get back to me!

Songs like ‘Constant Spirals’ and ‘Tides’ showcase a different side to Joho, but a side that is equally impressive as his heavy-hitting stuff. “I aspired to make history by creating the greatest album of all time as an independent DIY artist from my bedroom,” he says. It’s an absolute gem, of that there’s no doubt!
