Joel Rivendell Explores Leftfield and EDM Territories in ‘Touch’

We were writing about Joel Rivendell only last week, sharing one of his latest efforts, ‘Stream’. Keen on the track, we proudly declared it as “one of Joel’s latest efforts, a soul-laced pop gem built on friendly and evocative tones. While the sonic material is relatively low-key, Rivendell’s vocals guide us through his convoluted lyricism.” Now, we return to the topic, having been sent another single by Rivendell himself. There’s a catch though: it resembles nothing like its predecessor, instead, it’s almost the opposite.

Titled ‘Touch’, the piece focuses on EDM and experimental electronica, an almost totally instrumental track. The only voice-generated element is a short spoken word burst, repeating ‘touch’ in hypnotising fashion. Quite leftfield, the sonic references are quirky, fast-paced electronica, often balanced over techno and trance tones. More ethereal textures are not missing either, making the record a truly kaleidoscopic single.

Described as a ‘club dance track’ by Joel, ‘Touch’ seeks to focus on “the importance of human connection and the healing power of touch. It’s high-energy, short, sharp and sweet”.
