Joan of Arc and Dream Pop Go Hand-in-Hand with Delta of Venus

I love ‘Disengaged b/w Slipping’ more than I probably should. Luscious shoegaze and dream-pop with female vocals perfectly match our music taste, so much so that Delta of Venus will likely end up in our private playlists… anyway, back to the important stuff. Hailing from Mystic, CT, Delta of Venus has recently unveiled a stunning and hypnotising visual counterpart to ‘Disengaged b/w Slipping’, featuring intense storytelling focused around the historical figure of Joan of Arc.

The record was originally released in November last year and has now found a new lease of life thanks to the aforementioned video. Frankly, we are big fans of the project. Featuring Ellery Twining’s familiar figure, Delta of Venus do a good job of drawing a wide range of inspiration, from Drop Nineteens’ teenage authenticity to Cocteau Twins’ blissful guitar tones and angelic vocals.

Speaking about the video, the group explain: “The long-form video reimagines the narrative arc of Joan of Arc, had she lived beyond her nineteen years, and led a movement of feminine resistance set in modern-day Mystic, CT.” It’s written, directed, filmed and styled by Mystic-based photographer Michelle Gemma.
