North Carolina artist Jennifer Alvarado shares her brand new single ‘Catfish’, calling out those womanizers who lead girls on with false intentions, only looking to break their hearts.
The artist holds a long list of achievements under her belt, with titles such as “One To Watch” by the Nashville Songwriters Association and Indie Radio Star’s “2021 Country Artist of The Year”. In addition, two of Alvarado’s songs were chosen by the Indie Songwriting Awards for “Best Pop Song” in 2022, and she also boasts a number of impressive nominations.
The country-pop track is an empowering song that will get women passionately singing along to it with rage over the guys that screwed them over. It has a strong female stance and a “don’t mess with me” attitude that is addictive. Alvarado’s vocal dynamics give the song different shades, keeping the listener engaged through the sultry and slightly ‘evil mood’ in the verses, leading up to explosive and fun choruses. The instrumentation is unapologetically country, with banjos and a thick guitar sound throughout, adding to the unapologetic sass of the song.
Produced by Ricky Rodriguez and Bombhouse Studios, ‘Catfish’ is authentically classic, while showcasing modern production choices that elevate the song to a superb standard.
