Jen Lush Unites Poetry and Music in Dreamy and Cathartic ‘Icon – song 1’

We wrote about Jen Lush previously, celebrating ‘Lovers Parting, Dawn’, a stunning hymn to love, loss and desire. Now, the Australian songstress returns with her latest effort, the majestic, poignant and anthemic jewel ‘Icon – song 1’. In it, the listeners will face material that’s cathartic, almost meditative. Built on charming acoustic arrangements, spacious, soothing yet intense, the record provides the perfect sonic environment for Lush’s ethereal, bucolic vocals, packed with dreaminess and a melancholic sense of longing. Jen’s ability to create a thousand harmonies is also not forgotten.

Taken from the Aussie’s upcoming album – ‘Hum of the Mettle’ – expected on August 18th, ‘Icon – song 1’ features the elegant and meaningful poetry of Maria Zajkowski, reiterating Lush’s close ties to the literary world. In fact, the whole album will see Jen collaborating with some of Australia’s finest poets, merging her wonderful music with relevant lyricism.

Channelling its ethereal character, ‘Icon – song 1’ seeks to reflect on the bittersweet realm of memory and loss laced with hope. Although told in metaphorical terms, we are confident the song will connect to the most sensible and fragile listeners out there.
