One of the most unique and curious projects we have come across recently, Twin Court appear to have found a never-heard-before sonic formula, blending Javanese gamelan with dream rock and indie elements. They present themselves in a rather fascinating manner: “We’re just children of rock music who happened to get lost in the beautiful, flowing river of Javanese gamelan”. An organic, collaborative outfit, the American group has now expanded to include a healthy lineup of like-minded creatives.
‘Sage Creek’ is a perfect example of their cathartic potential. Taken from Twin Court’s latest album ‘Forgotten Turns’, out now, the track is the longest episode in it, and perhaps the most psychedelic too. Infusing post-rock and dreamy, hazy influences with Javanese gamelan, the record wraps listeners into a fictional, buoyant musical universe, the perfect place for reflection and introspection. Twin Court’s evocative, intimate female vocals are a perfect addition to an already wonderful piece.
