It is not always easy to write a great pop song. There’s quite a complex science behind it, a set of dark know-how that the best songwriters in the world all seem to share. In that regard, JASMINE IS is holding up her end very successfully, showcasing her nuanced songwriting skills in a new charming single, ‘Love of Money’. Built on a powerful, sleazy and groovy retro-dance production – courtesy of industry legend Philip Larsen – the track is an absolute earworm, sticking into the listeners’ ears for hours after the experience. Catchy as they come, the record is a certified banger, one of those records that are certainly gonna offer a good time.
Emerging from Britain, JASMINE IS maintains a strongly private persona, letting the music do the talk instead. Even her collaboration with Larsen was purely remote, a way of working that seems to have paid off. As she explains: “Thankfully, we’ve proved that working remotely and invisibly for the most part, doesn’t have to be detrimental to collaborating and creating music. But who knows, it’s entirely possible Philip and I may meet up one of these days..under a Vulcan! But that’s another story..”
Lyrically, ‘Love of Money’ explores the role of financial freedom in today’s society, establishing that money won’t make you happy, even if, on the surface, it can appear that way.
