Released just a few hours ago, ‘Only Love Could Be So Blind’ is the tender new single courtesy of Blackborough-based singer/songwriter Julian Ransom, better known as Jacre. Recorded in the musician’s home studio and produced by Dominic Romano, an artist and producer we are very familiar with, ‘Only Love Could Be So Blind’ seamlessly blends pop-rock with alternative folk. Somehow gentle and powerful simultaneously, it’s a tune that showcases Jacre’s ability to craft deeply emotional and poignant music paired with rich and layered arrangements.
As for the meaning behind the track, Jacre explains it’s “based on a relationship that I had a long time ago where I slowly began to realise that almost everything she’d ever told me was a lie”. Known primarily for his fictionalised work, ‘Only Love Could Be So Blind’ is a change of pace for the musician – and one that brings a raw and heartfelt dimension to his repertoire.
From features on BBC to having his lyrics published in a poetry anthology, Jacre is living proof that it’s never too late to follow one’s dreams and pursue a music career. And, when you’re being compared to the likes of Gregory Alan Isakov and Novo Amor, you’re clearly doing something right!
