Known for her cinematic and experimental soundscapes, or for her quirky and witty vocals, Jacqueline Kroft has widely showcased her creative flair, always on the hunt for new sonic direction and expressive outlets, Now, the British talent relieves herself from the pressure of ‘producing’ on a computer screen, stripping it down to the bare minimum – the poignancy of a piano and delicate, introspective melodies. Please welcome ‘Piano Preludes, Vol. 2’.
Accompanying the release of her solo piano album, Jacqueline has opened a new world of exploration and discovery. Through the 27 preludes that she has already written – set to be released in volumes – we are able to dive into a nuanced sound that is both expressive and relatable, connecting with the listener’s soul on a deeper level.
Drawing inspiration from daily experiences, Kroft observes and dissects the world around her, finding common ground in the shared activities that make us what we are daily. From busy urban environments to the peacefulness of natural landscapes, ‘Piano Preludes, Vol 2’ channels their collective force, resulting in a record of higher magnitude.
Describing the compositional process behind the pieces, Jacqueline explains: “With the solitude came the time, the message, the music. I separated myself from the computer screen and wrote these piano preludes and recorded them on my piano in my studio. Introspective, romantic, playful, uplifting works on the piano. Entwining the melodic with rhythmic interludes. It’s been a great escape.”
