There’s something quite special in Ivelina Schindler’s debut effort, ‘Safe Love’. It’s relatable pop, but it has a certain dark and haunting quality to it. Not a bubblegum offering by any means, the track is fierce, rapturous and hard-hitting, showcasing all the artistic force of a young talent clearly on the rise. What’s more, Schindler is able to consistently shifts from singing to spoken word bits, always maintaining her evocative and punchy vocal tone, drenched in EDM, trap and contemporary pop vibe.
Based in London, Ivelina Schindler is originally from Bulgaria, later moving to the British capital to pursue her dreams. Dreams that may very well be on their way to becoming reality, seen her musical prowess. Blending her Balkan flavourings with Western influences, such as Rihanna and Dua Lipa (among others), Schindler is able to build a personal creative universe, one where the listeners can lose themselves freely, rocked by the exuberant character of the emerging songstress.
Lyrically, the track focuses on a love affair between a young girl and a dangerous, influential man who is ready to offer her the world through shady deals and sacrificing others. The song’s direct and clear lyrics are a reflection of the protagonist’s point of view, making you relate and empathize with her. A fantastic effort, safely celebrating Ivelina’s talent.
