There’s a very hypnotic element in British songstress Ishani’s latest effort ‘Powetripp’. Introduced by a wide and mesmerising synth-bass, the track soon takes shape with the London talent’s evocative and sultry vocals. This creates a magnetising contrast, one that highlights Ishani’s songwriting and lyrical force. Later on, a punchy percussive beat joins the party, shaping a very iconic sonic horizon. A really good record, ‘Powertripp’ represents the London resident’s awaited return to the music scene, after a year-long hiatus.
Of Indian and British heritage, Ishani carries a unique outlook on her musical output, allowing her to navigate freely between electronica, pop and R&B. While her musical references do change from time to time, her attitude remains the same, offering passionate, sleazy and precise vocals next to purposeful storytelling.
Speaking about the reasoning behind ‘Powertripp’, Ishani explains: “This is a song about self-love and how you can overcome being in a toxic relationship where negative patterns repeat. You have to come to a point where you let go of the rope of that power struggle and choose yourself over the endless loops. Take off your mask and veil and walk away.”
