Irish Songstress Elise Returns with Empowering Gem ‘I Don’t Mind’

Marking Elise’s comeback to the global music landscape, ‘I Don’t Mind’ is a surprisingly good record. Built on contemporary indie-pop stylings and strongly eclectic in its sonic livery, the track is vibrant and evocative, expressive but with a cool edge. Its lyricism – delving into theme of empowerment and resilience – is meaningful and relatable, making for an overall artistic package that’s hard to resist.

Hailing from Kilkenny, Ireland, ‘I Don’t Mind’ is Elise’s first new release since her 2021 elegant and nuanced effort ‘Ragdoll’. The project had a surprisingly majestic character back then, a sense of grandeur that seems to have been toned down in the new record. We feel it’s a good choice: moving the project into lighter and fresher territories, ‘I Don’t Mind’ still retains Elise’s poignant aura while delivering a more malleable sonic livery.

Speaking about the inspiration behind the song, the Irish creative explains: “It’s about being true to yourself and feeling confident in your identity even if others do not see it.” This is a powerful message, especially in our tumultuous, controversial times. More music is on the horizon, with Elise’s upcoming EP ‘I’ve Been Here’ scheduled for release in early 2025.
