Iönä Hypnotize Us All With Dark Pop Jewel ‘Tick Tick’

When delving into ‘TICK TICK’, the listeners should be ready to deal with the unexpected. In fact, we’d describe it as ‘Mesmerizing’, making it the perfect feature for our publication. Truly, the record is a slice of quirky euphoria and theatrical prowess. Built over leftfield electronica elements and poppy references, the single is the perfect recipient of iönä’s evocative, quirky and euphoric vocals, here exhibiting all their malleability, constantly oscillating between cute and creepy – in a fashionable, attractive way.

The perfect blend between pop and leftfield, ‘TICK TICK’ was co-produced and co-written with Danny M. Allin (Labrinth, Emily Sandé), and as such, it carries a rather nuanced and expert sonic profile. It’s all pending toward dark territories, with detuned synthetisers and short bursts of sweeping textures.

Describing the creative process behind the song, iönä explains: “Me and Danny were in his studio in Wood Green, and we heard a siren going off outside. It inspired us to recreate that sound and create a stressful atmosphere in the song, which went really well with my idea to write about mental health and inner war.”
