iLLann Introduces Herself to the World with ‘Protector’

Using just a violin, a mic, and a loop pedal, up-and-coming Canadian singer/songwriter and violinist iLLann (Ilan Farkvam) has produced one of the most mesmerizing tunes I’ve had the pleasure of hearing all year. ‘Protector’ is the musician’s debut single…hard to believe I know, and it was actually a song that she wrote in her teenage years. As she continued to grow musically, so too did the song, and though its meaning would eventually change completely, its lyrics never did. I proudly stand here and proclaim that ‘Protector’ encompasses so many different genres and styles, it is simply impossible to place in a box. And isn’t that just what we love, really?

Drawing on inspiration from a wide range of artists and acts like Portishead, Thom Yorke, Massive Attack, Bonobo, and Agnes Obel, iLLann has fashioned a sound that is uniquely hers. It’s a sound that I cannot wait to hear more of!

Currently immersed in recording a FACTOR-sponsored EP that will be entitled ‘iLLusive’, iLLann is also working alongside a myriad of other artists and creatives to create an accompanying music video. Magic is in the air when it comes to iLLann and her community. We can’t wait to see what she gets up to next!

Serious tune alert! Enjoy ‘Protector’ on Spotify now:
