We particularly appreciate IDN‘s latest effort, ‘Velvet Sanctuary’. Perhaps its strongest point is the ability to blend club-flavoured sonic matter with a more poppy and friendly topline, making the L.A.-based newcomer an eclectic and mesmerising force in the current music landscape. He seems eager to declare his love for dance music, especially for the techno and house of the 90s. We certainly agree with him, the references are strong. IDN does a wonderful job of taking them into modernity, creating something unique and peculiar. Dazzling synth, cosmic sweeps and never-ending beats, all play a role in delivering the project’s flourishing artistic vision.
The listening experience is also pretty charming. ‘Velvet Sanctuary’ takes over your attention almost instantly, wrapping you in kaleidoscopic energy and rhythmic drive. Written and produced by IDN himself, the record showcases the Californian artist’s prowess for musical innovation, pushing the boundaries of genres and current pop.
Lyrically, that’s where IDN also shines. The rich and euphoric nature of the track pairs perfectly with the message of self-love and acceptance so proudly championed by ‘Velvet Sanctuary’. As the young newcomer explains: “being that soft sanctuary for yourself when no one else can be there for you. We are our best teachers, lovers, friends, motivators, etc. so I think it’s so important to preach self-love and take a moment to thank every part of yourself for being what it is.”
