Straight off the bat, I’m getting strong notes of The Smashing Pumpkins with hints of Jane’s Addiction and even a little Cage The Elephant. The tune in question is ‘Feet on the Fire’, and it comes courtesy of Canadian alternative rockers Idle Lane. A grungy and hard-hitting, yet also hauntingly beautiful track, ‘Feet on the Fire’ is a warm cocktail of rock grooves from a seriously gifted outfit.
A song that deals with grief and trying to keep one’s heart open despite all the vulnerability and hurt it’s been through, Idle Lane’s new tune brings forth an important message: “Even if you lose something beautiful, it’s better than never having had it.”
Finding that sweet spot between paying homage to the classic rock of the 70s and alternative rock of the 90s, Idle Lane’s sound captures the essence of rock’s golden years. Most importantly, however, it charges forward with an aura that is becoming more and more unmistakably the band’s own.
Since their debut single ‘Welcome To My World’ was released at the end of 2021, Idle Lane has been steadily growing a dedicated fanbase. They’ve toured extensively across Canada, and I believe they’re just about ready to go global.
