Ian Roland Unveils Nostalgic, Meaningful Piece ‘Craving’

We routinely go back to Ian Roland’s buoyant, bucolic songwriting prowess. Delving into simple yet relevant themes, the Brighton-based creative manages to describe a world packed with gentle emotions and kindness, not to mention great nostalgia-driven escapism. Following up from ‘The Beacon’ – a stunning piece celebrating Mother Earth – Roland unveils today his latest effort, ‘Craving’, a tender, cathartic song sparking a specific childhood memory.

From a sonic standpoint, the single takes a minimal approach, basking in liminal folk with a lullaby-like outlook. Featuring acoustic guitars and a steady drum groove, the British troubadour composes the perfect background for his dynamic, evocative vocals, able to come together in a thousand harmonies or just stand alone with intimate flair. The hook ‘craving love from you’ stands tall as a catchy, meaningful outro, slowly wrapping the listener into a lasting reflective moment.

Lyrically, ‘Craving’ is inspired by Roland’s frequent trips to Crystal Palace Park as a child. As he explains: “My big sisters used to take me to Crystal Palace Park to see the huge model dinosaurs there. It was a mix of trepidation and excitement to seek out the prehistoric animals amidst the Park’s trees and the grey, rainy skies of the Borough of Bromley.”
