Last year, we fell deeply in love with a record called ‘The Wood Wide Web’ courtesy of Brighton-based singer/songwriter Ian Roland. Labelling it a “monumental album”, the folky and mellow pop offering was our first introduction to Roland’s work, and we’ve been waiting patiently ever since to hear more from him. Thankfully, just five days ago, he answered our call!
‘Living in Sound’ is Ian’s first release of 2024 and follows in a similar sonic vein to ‘The Wood Wide Web’. Laidback and mellifluous, it’s the artist’s vocals that truly steal the show. Full of warmth and genuineness, the tune addresses the UK music industry, specifically profits and re-distribution. Determined to create a sustainable future for musicians, he strives to foster an industry that values creativity and challenges the status quo.
Having supported acts like Martin Simpson, The Black Feathers, and 10cc’s Graham Gouldman to mention just a few, Ian Roland is an artist on a mission for equality. ‘Living in Sound’ sends out a message of strength and hope for the future, and we couldn’t be more proud to champion a musician who is unafraid to speak his mind. Here’s to many more from a highly gifted songwriter!
