What a luscious vintage journey. ‘Baby Don’t Go Too Far’ explores 80s euphoria and RnB energy, perhaps also blinking an eye to more modern nostalgic genres such as vaporwave and synthwave. What matters though, is the way the track seems to wrap the listener into a warm and passionate embrace. Built over a classic TR-707 beat – a Roland-made drum machine most common during the 80s – the piece also flourishes on a stunning slap bassline and wide synth chords, overall using sounds that do ring a bell in our memory: it’s modern nostalgia.
Always drawn to music, Ian McDaniel emerges from Canada with nuanced taste and creative flair. From playing bass in an orchestra as a kid to his modern production endeavour, artistic creation has constantly been part of his life. Now, he fiercely works from his own studio, filled with any sort of magic machinery.
Speaking about the track, McDaniel explains: “Baby Don’t Go Too Far’ is really about love. Love for another, love for yourself, love for God and especially God’s love for us. It’s a reminder not to ‘go too far’ from that love. It’s a reminder to never forget what’s really important and your value. No matter what we are important to somebody. Everybody is somebody’s one.”
