Hybrid Kid Returns with Wholesome Single ‘Cry’

One thing we really love about ‘Cry’ is its wholesome character. It feels very heartwarming and relatable. It is not polished to the extreme – a feature found pretty often in modern music – instead, it seeks to preserve all the imperfections, the jagged and nuanced tones and sonic artifacts. The result is a uniquely pure and unfiltered listening experience, a slice of catchy lyricism wrapped in expansive and cathartic production.

Built on garage rock and indie elements, ‘Cry’ is the latest effort by Brighton-based Hybrid Kid, a talented and inspired creative often calling himself a ‘one-man band’. Known by day as Danny Lloyd, Hybrid Kid is the full package, with the English troubadour focusing his attention on perfecting his artistic formula and penning meaningful lyricism.

Delving into the recording process behind ‘Cry’, Lloyd explains: “Recording in a barn in the South Downs National Park away from all the hecticness of modern life helped create the laid back strolling vibe of this track”. There’s obviously a certain bucolic component in it, a slice of authenticity that keeps the project relatable and timeless. A quality that’s shared by the songwriting behind ‘Cry’, urging listeners to never give up, letting go of failures and disappointments.
