Good things take time. We know it – never in a rush to draft an article. Hounds Haul know it too: the British indie outfit has been on a long artistic journey to find its sound and its inner voices. Meeting each other in 2019 under the input of head honcho Adam Bosworth, the group slowly developed a highly personal and authentic identity, made up of both energetic indie anthems and poignant ballads. A vehicle for their refined storytelling, the band’s music exudes attitude and character, not afraid of fiercely pursuing a blend of acoustic and electronic elements.
Following up on a short hiatus that lasted almost a year, Hounds Haul are now returning to the music scene with what seems to be an enhanced version of themselves. Leaving classic indie tropes and formulas behind them, the Milton Keynes natives conquer a slightly darker, introspective sound, on the verge of alt-rock. What’s notable though, is the amount of electronica they are pumping into the track. It is industrial, gloomy sound design, a perfect match for the rest of the record. ‘Under Glacial’ is exactly all of that, and we are here for it.
Bosworth’s lead vocals feel more poised, never overpowering the instrumental around them. Instead, they play with it, carefully delivering cinematic-style storytelling. The song also approaches a forthcoming EP – stay tuned.
