Hot New Band Clemencie Debut with Indie Gem ‘Formal Wear’

Well, it looks like there’s a new band in town. Eclectic indie outfit Clemencie debut this week with ‘Formal Wear’, the first instalment of a career that seems to have started with fireworks. Having showcased their catchy and exciting style on the  British South West live circuit, the group built high expectations around them, creating the kind of buzz that usually precedes success stories. ‘Formal Wear’ is the first step towards that success.

A perfect balance between classic indie tropes and modern electronic elements, the record is the perfect musical refuge for Clemencie’s relatable and uplifting songwriting, keeping distortion under wraps in favour of frontwoman Grace Bland’s evocative, engaging vocals. Lyrically, the track focuses on the disappointment that comes with realizing that the person you used to date now only exists in memories. The slightly nostalgic vibe in the track works perfectly with it.

Emerging from Bristol, Clemencie are the new hot band on the block, with ‘Formal Wear’ clearly showcasing it. As we are told, pre-sale tickets for the track’s release party sold out in less than three hours, signalling industry and public attention towards a project that seems to be set towards the stars. The group will also appear at Outer Town festival next month.
