Hot Mud Offers Up Eclectic and Colourful Sophomore Album ‘Pink Cloud Pop’

To say that Ottawa-based artist Muddy Watters (yes, that’s his real name) has had a busy 2024 would be putting it mildly, given his non-stop stream of releases. Performing under the moniker Hot Mud and less than six months after bursting onto the scene, Muddy returns with his sophomore album ‘Pink Cloud Pop’. Picking up right where his debut record ‘Rehab Rock’ left off, ‘Pink Cloud Pop’ continues Hot Mud’s journey of conquering addiction and finding happiness and purpose.

‘Welcome To Humankind’ gets the album underway, and it’s a gritty and upbeat little number that the artist describes lyrically as a “quirky anecdote that can be seen from many perspectives”. ‘Lifestyles Of The Unfortunate Wild’ then steps into the spotlight, gifting the listener a nonstop adrenaline rush from start to finish. Experimental, electrifying, sublime!

‘Nobody Listens To The Radio’ is an irresistible alt-rock banger filled with electronic elements and pop hooks, while ‘Friday Night Drive Me Crazy’ is a tune that simply has to be experienced – it cannot be explained in mere words.

The remaining five tracks are just as brilliant and colourful as their predecessors, and they round out a record that showcases a once-troubled musician finding a new zest for life.
