‘Living Arrangements’ is a curious, quirky offering. Seemingly a slice of dreamy indie matter and elegant, evocative electronica, the track can be traced to a wide pool of eclectic influences. For instance, there’s the occasional synth arpeggio, with its rather gritty and industrial flair, even resembling an acid-house bassline. Then, there’s the lightly fuzzy guitar, straight from a Darkside album (Nicolas Jaar anyone?), followed by a sea of textures and soundscapes.
Vibrant and minimal beats complete the sonic picture, providing the perfect backdrop to Hot Hair’s hazy and evocative vocals, drenched in spacious reverb and rather ethereal. Overall, it’s a surprisingly great record: bold, niche, immersive and charismatic. Based in Brighton, Hot Air is about to release a comprehensive collection of material, all written and developed over the past 10 years.
Speaking about the meaning behind his work, he explains: “A two-part EP comes out over the course of next year. The aim of the project is to display an eclectic range of songwriting; different styles of tracks that somewhat yet uniquely go together.”
