Holy Høly Returns with Evocative Piece ‘Common’

We discovered Holy Høly not long ago, and our first impression of her was overwhelmingly positive. A nuanced composer, performer and overall creative, the Poland-based songstress has recently unveiled a piece that’s as hypnotising as it is evocative. ‘Common’ is a slice of trip-hop and enlightened abstraction, with a touch of modern jazz thrown into it.

Incredibly eclectic and universal, the track sees Holy Høly taking the lead, lending the record her soulful and luscious vocals, together with her unique touch on piano, bass and synths. Collaborators Kafiristan and Szymon Nożyński (Nis) complete the dream team behind ‘Common’, taking charge of saxophone, drums and lo-fi effects in the production.

The result is a single that punches above its weight, bordering into avant-garde and abstract territories. In other words, it’s a visionary piece of art, further evidence of the blessed creativity enjoyed by Holy Høly (going by Ewa Baran by day). ‘Common’ is out on your favourite platform right now, via Italian label Cultural Bridge.
