Fierce and playful, ‘Show Me The Gold’ is the perfect entry ticket to Holly Roseanna‘s evocative artistry. Balanced between anthemic rock and malleable pop, the record benefits from the contribution of rapper Empress, helping the Scottish songstress achieve a compelling result. Self-produced, the single certainly grabs our attention – and no need for gold this time!
On the other hand, Roseanna seems determined to be shown the ‘gold’ in order to grant her attention… a tongue-in-cheek and bold statement that’s at the core of the single; the theme is the perfect match for the project’s powerful and empowering aesthetic, really supercharging Holly’s nuanced and alternative flair.
‘Show Me The Gold’ finds its home in a three-track EP, ‘Prima Donna’, which we recommend you check out. Speaking about the inspiration behind it, Roseanna explains: “I chose the name, the ‘Prima Donna EP’, to reflect the nature of the fury-driven songs, which also have a touch of silliness. After experiencing a period of low self-esteem which came about after a string of failed relationships, I (naturally) listened to a lot of female-empowered music”.
