In an increasingly competitive music industry, it is often difficult for peeps to stand out and make their mark. Detroit hip-hop talent Ravyn, however, has managed to do just that. With a unique sound and musical influences spanning from Pierce the Veil to Lil Peep, she has been crafting a distinct style of their own. Balancing between cutting-edge rap and electronica tones, Ravyn’s music is always contemporary, at times experimental, while always keeping its relatable nature.
‘audio files’ is the project’s first release, delivered in September last year. In it, it is clear how Ravyn is an absolute musical talent. Her lyrical flow is punchy, fast and never obvious. Engaging in personal storytelling, she borrows themes and inspiration from personal experience, inspiring listeners with lessons from everyday living. As she explains: “Attract, don’t chase, but if you’re going to chase anything, chase yourself.”
The EP, recorded in young talent’s bedroom, is a testament to this. With its convoluted rhythms and synth work, it is clear that Ravyn has crafted a unique style that speaks to her audience.
