Herds Release their Debut Single ‘Station of the cross’

Jeremy Bregman

Nottingham-based indie-rockers Herds have just released their debut single, ‘Station of the Cross’, and it’s already making some serious waves in music circles. The band, made up of members from the now-disbanded alternative-rock act The Amber Herd, have honed their sound to create something rather unique and forward-thinking. ‘Station of the cross’ is an upbeat and bouncy little number that features layers of synth and reverb-driven guitar, resulting in a nostalgia-laced sound that is both familiar and fresh at the same time.

When asked about their influences, the band states that “early Pink Floyd formed our base, with layers of Pixies, Grandaddy, and The Byrds sprinkled amongst it“. I think it’s this wonderfully eclectic mix that gives Herds their distinctive character and wide-ranging soundscape. They’ve taken inspiration from the past and used it to create something that is future-proof.

‘Station of the cross’ is the first taste of what’s to come from the band’s forthcoming album, and we honestly cannot wait to hear more from them! Keep an eye out for Herds, they are without a doubt an act to watch out for in 2023!
