We featured Henka earlier this year, proudly declaring: “the track turns up the heat and the luscious charge, providing the perfect background for the singer’s powerful and evocative vocals, capable of going from haunting, alternative melodies to glorious and memorable pop choruses.” At the time, we were writing about ‘Fading Out’, the second single in the project’s short yet memorable lifespan. Now, the London-based creative returns with her latest effort, ‘Caught Up’, an adrenaline-fuelled, gritty gem, exploding into a glorious chorus where we can observe Henka’s vocals’ evocative and impressive force.
She really seems to have found a fitting identity for the project, preferring haunting tones, punchy and crisp bass synthetisers balanced with irresistible cinematic energy, taking her audience on a legendary and epic listening journey. We are in awe, really: if this is where the project is headed, we are confident Henka’s career is bound for higher grounds.
Lyrically, ‘Caught Up’ explores the painfully dramatic circumstances around a betrayal and a lost love, perhaps delving into the artist’s past in order to reach a resolution point. As Henka herself describes it: “It’s a cathartic song with powerful vocals and emotions with a purpose to heal past trauma”.
