As music curators, we are constantly inspired by the stories of artists who have found success in pushing boundaries and experimenting with different genres. Heistheartist is one of those inspiring stories, having faced a personal crisis, growth and change in order to reach his ultimate artistic expression.
At the beginning of his career, Heistheartist was a secular neo-soul singer, signed to Bentley Records under his biological name LeeMann Bassey. His life changed forever after he heard a sermon by TD Jakes that sparked a newfound faith within him. The New York talent now uses his music as a tool to spread the Lord’s message of love and hope, one song at a time.
Off the back of a successful year, which saw him gain a nomination in the World Songwriting Awards, Heistheartist returns with a heartfelt cover of Kelis’ song ‘Caught Out There’, anticipating his forthcoming EP ‘Under the Influence of Love (Acoustic Soul)’ expected for March. Using only his evocative vocals and soulful piano playing, Heistheartist records a true masterpiece, showcasing his sense of poignancy and the ability to speak directly to the listener’s hearts.
