We jumped into ‘Just a Crush’ without knowing what to expect. To our surprise, it’s one of the best records we have heard this month. Okay, we are perhaps biased, as we dig pop-rock/indie pieces with female vocals and an expansive character – yet we are confident that the track will connect with a large audience. Penned by Somerset-based songstress Harri Pick, the song benefits greatly from her charming vocal delivery.
Balanced between earthy and evocative and boasting a veiled spoken words aura, Pick’s vocals are honestly stunning, especially in the chorus, where they explode into dynamic and anthemic melodies. ‘Just a Crush’ follows up on Harri’s previous effort ‘Call Back Home’ a punchier episode that’s just as good as her latest one. 10/10 would recommend!
Speaking about the inspiration behind ‘Just a Crush’, Pick explains: “It delves into the complexities of attraction – feeling those urges for connection but wrestling with the idea of holding back.”
