‘Gone’ is the smashing new single from Harpa, a Nottingham-based singer/songwriter we’ve been keeping a close eye (and ear) on since last year. Her single ‘Shrink’ sucked us into her sonic universe, and then ‘Leave Me Behind’ sealed the deal. Now, Harpa returns with ‘Gone’, a beautiful and eclectic new tune showcasing her versatility and multifaceted artistic skills.
“Our guitarist Rob came up with this nu-metal-esque opening riff, and I’d been super eager to write a heavier song,” said Harpa. When the track begins, you’d be forgiven for thinking someone had accidentally uploaded the wrong tune, but it’s not long before the distinctive and emotive vocals of the musician appear.
Reminiscent of Evanescence in a way, ‘Gone’ is a driving anthem filled with raw power that perfectly balances robust instrumentals with Harpa’s heartfelt voice.
Lyrically, ‘Gone’ explores a past, unhealthy friendship where Harpa constantly and negatively compares herself to a friend. It’s a track that deals with overcoming self-doubt and seeing people for who they truly are. “It’s kind of a message to her saying I’m no longer waiting around for you to come back,” says the artist. “I’m moving on”. Powerful, bold, and utterly intoxicating, Harpa has once again delivered the goods!
