With just her third official release, Texas-based singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Gracen Wynn is already showing the world why she’s an artist worth keeping close tabs on. Let’s just say, if I was a betting man, I’d wager good money on her becoming a household name.
‘Stop The Car’ is Gracen’s brand new offering, and it’s a folky, poppy, and deeply contagious tune that I’ve fallen pretty hard for. Wynn’s vocal performance is heartfelt and vulnerable, as she invites listeners into her private world of unhealthy relationships and emotional abuse. Rich and beautifully pieced together, ‘Stop The Car’ is a truly charming and mesmerizing track that delivers both depth and accessibility.
Reflecting on the meaning behind the song, Gracen recalls an experience with a former boyfriend that led her to an awakening. “We should never stay with someone who would directly or indirectly put us in harm’s way, whether that be physically, mentally, or emotionally,” she says.
Influenced by Gracie Abrams, Novo Amor, Ellie Goulding, and Lizzy McAlpine, I believe Gracen Wynn is about to start receiving some serious accolades for her work. And, with undoubtedly more tunes in the pipeline, we’ll be following her journey eagerly!
